My Story: From The Lab To The Mind & Body

Hey, I'm Peter Sanchez.

If something in your health or life needs to change, whether it's burnout, chronic gut issues, or a nervous system stuck in fight-or-flight mode, you're not alone. I've been exactly where you are.

To understand how I got here, we have to look at two defining moments that completely reshaped my life.

The Stanford Days: Looking at a bitter future

Take a look at these two pictures...

On the right: At peace, aligned, and obsessed with life.

In 2019, my life looked pretty good on paper. I worked as a biomedical research scientist at the Stanford University School of Medicine, at the forefront of regenerative medicine.

I helped engineer a patient's own blood cells to fight advanced cancers. Heavy, cutting-edge science.

Behind the scenes, I was running on fumes. Twelve-hour days under fluorescent lights. Chronic stress. Completely misaligned with who I wanted to be.

Then came the day that changed everything.

I was eating lunch in the atrium when I saw a senior scientist in her 60s furiously complaining to one of my managers. Bitter. Exhausted. Miserable.

I wasn't looking at a frustrated co-worker. I was looking at my own future if I stayed on that path.

I left the lab in 2021 to work for myself. I thought a change of environment would fix everything. It didn't. You can't fix internal, physiological overload by only changing your external scenery.

The Breaking Point: When The Body Says No

I left Stanford, but I brought my old stress patterns and work habits with me.

For the next five years, I stayed locked in fight-or-flight mode. I ignored my physical health and every warning sign my body gave me.

It caught up to me in December 2025.

I woke up with excruciating pain shooting through my chest and back. It led to a four-month medical nightmare: severe dehydration, nerve pain, and malnutrition from long-term fasting (I ate 300 calories every two days).

In April, doctors performed an endoscopy and found a large, eroded polyp in my stomach.

They removed it surgically and put me on very high-dose PPIs (proton-pump inhibitors) for 3 months to suppress stomach acid while my post-surgical wound healed.

The aftermath triggered gut dysbiosis (IBS, SIBO, SIFO), skin issues, cell toxicity, physical and mental exhaustion, along with my body being in traumatic shock from the whole experience.

Recovery forced me to confront a hard truth: the way I was living, my subconscious stress loops, my hyper-stimulated nervous system, my constant fight-or-flight state, had created the physical conditions for my health to collapse.

Dietary changes and supplements alone weren't going to fix it.

Willpower wasn't going to fix it.

My mind and body were stuck in a destructive feedback loop. I had to address both.

The Realization: Bridging Physiology & The Mind

I put my scientist cap back on. This time, I turned the microscope inward.

True healing requires bridging physical inputs (gut health, nutrition, posture, structural alignment) with cognitive and somatic interventions (nervous system regulation, meditation, polyvagal theory, releasing past trauma).

I used myself as N=1 research. I experimented with vagus nerve regulation, somatic processing, gut-brain protocols, and mindfulness.

The results were real. My digestive system started repairing itself, little by little. My energy started to returned. My body finally felt safe enough to begin healing.

That wake-up call sent me back to graduate school to study behavioral psychology and mind-body medicine, on the path toward a Ph.D. so I can contribute real, evidence-backed research to this field.

Why I Built This Space For You

You don't need a medical crisis or complete burnout to start listening to your body.

My mission is to translate mind-body science, somatic interventions, and gut-brain research into tools you can use every day.

I'm not here to lecture you or sell 50-step hacks. I'm here to help you listen to your body, regulate your nervous system, and take back your health from the inside out.
